Who we are

As an operating unit of IMP Aerospace & Defence, IMP Electronic Systems provides customers with a turnkey electronics solution with capabilities that begin as an electronics concept, followed by design, prototype, manufacturing, testing, installation, and follow-up support, including repair and overhaul and the calibration of equipment.

This electronics design, manufacturing, and repair and overhaul experience is offered to national and international, military and commercial customers in the aerospace, space, land vehicle, and naval industries.

Our Leadership Team

Kevin Turple
Kevin Turple
Manager, Contracts & Administration

Kevin began working at IMP in 1988 at the IMP Aerospace Division, located at the Halifax International Airport. In 1992, he transferred to IMP’s Avionics Division and in 1995 joined the contracts management team. In 2005, Kevin transferred to IMP’s IT division, IMP Solutions, as Accounting Manager and then relocated back to IMP Avionics (now the IMP Electronic Systems Operating Unit) as Manager of Contracts and Administration in 2008. Kevin holds an Accounting Degree from the University of Calgary, as well as a Certified Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CGA).

Manager, Quality & Engineering

Gaétan joined IMP Electronics Systems in November 2008 as the Avionics Repair and Overhaul Manager. In January 2012, he was assigned to lead the CH124 Sea King Technical Support team as the contractor site manager at the Shearwater Avionics Support Organization (AvSO). Gaetan’s current role at IMP Electronic Systems is Manager, Quality and Engineering. Prior to joining IMP, Gaétan spent 32 years in the Canadian Forces where he first obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario.


Our Facilities

Housed in a 43,000 sq. ft. facility just outside of the city of Halifax on the south shore of Nova Scotia, the IMP Electronic Systems operation includes:

  • Wire Harness Production Area
  • 2,000 sq ft ISO 14644-1 Class 7 Clean Room for Space Programs
  • 3 Avionics Shops:
    • Avionics/Instruments
    • Gyro
    • Commercial
  • 2 Calibration Labs:
    • Mechanical
    • Electrical

The layout of the facility has been established to effectively utilize the space and, thus, permits for immediate expansion with available capacity.
